While the first real-world evaluation of greener flying is happening in Orkney as part of the Sustainable Aviation Test Environment, there are no easy solutions to removing carbon from aviation.
There are significant technological and economic challenges that must be solved before the reliance on fossil fuels is ended. This means that there will be an interesting period of transition where competing solutions operate alongside each other.
But we must start somewhere! This talk will explore the various challenges of, and opportunities for, net-zero carbon aviation and the operational, safety and regulatory journey needed to help combat climate change.
