Science Festivals are 33 years old and Simon Gage, Director of Edinburgh Science Festival, has been involved for 32 of them. Using a handful of objects and memorable moments gathered over his life in public engagement he offers a few simple wisdoms about what he believes makes for great engagement. Drawing on his international work on science festivals, educational programmes and other unexpected moments of excitement and hazard he reflects on a movement that must evolve quickly to stay relevant and compelling for all its audiences. The Tea & Talk series invites everyone to enjoy a cup of tea while engaging with experts in a friendly, relaxed discussion. There won’t be any PowerPoints, notes, or formality here – just the chance to ask questions and to listen to some of Scotland’s leading authorities on a variety of subjects.
All Tea & Talk events will take place using Zoom Meetings so attendees can take part using audio and video. To encourage discussion and allow for everyone an opportunity to ask questions we have limited the number of spaces available.
